The Washington Redskins have officially changed their name...drum roll please..to the Washington Football Team.
No folk, this is not a typo, the team announced Wednesday after a thorough review the team would “retire,” the racist Redskins name and logo upon completion and develop a new name that will “enhance the standing of their proud, tradition rich franchise,” and this is the temporary name they came up with.
Outside of getting roasted harder than a barista at Starbucks, Washington looks to be all in on the move announcing via ESPN they will be keeping their burgundy and gold color scheme and instead of a logo put players’ numbers on their helmets as well as the standard front and back of their jersey collection.
The name is only for the coming 2020 season as Washington continues to find a name suitable for its community, fans, coaches and players.
