Great news for an even better individual as Alex Smith has been cleared for all football-related activities Friday.
According to ESPN, Smith suffered a life-threatening leg injury when he fractured his tibia and fibula during a 2018 game and has spent a year-plus recovering from it.
The recovery process was detailed in the ESPN E:60 Documentary Series “Project 11,” and it certainly was both horrifying and heartbreaking watching such a genuinely good human go through what he had to endure so football fans, players, coaches and owners are thrilled to see him back in a NFL uniform this coming season.
The 36-year-old former Utah Ute has a contract with Washington that runs through 2022 and could give the rebuilding Redskins a big boost the coming season as Smith is both a three-time Pro Bowler with a career (94-66-1) record and a Super Bowl appearance on his resume.
