In an effort to continue to support “Black Lives Matter,” the U.S. Soccer Federation officially voted Thursday to repeal a requirement for players to stand during the national anthem.
According to E!News, the Gold-winning, U.S. Women’s soccer team has called on the U.S. Soccer Federation to repeal Policy 604-1 where players are required to stand during the national anthem.
This comes in the aftermath of Colin Kaepernick and Megan Rapinoe kneeling for social injustice/police brutality during the national anthem of their respective games.
According to ESPN, the U.S. Soccer Federation is set to discuss the repeal during a conference call next Tuesday.
If the organization votes to approve the policy repeal, the rule would be diminished and it would take effect immediately.
