UConn is making FBS history Wednesday becoming the first college to suspend its football program for 2020 citing coronavirus concerns.
According to ESPN, the Huskies went 2-10 in its final season in the AAC (American Athletic Conference) and this season was expected to play as an FBS independent similar to Notre Dame.
Now UConn officials said no student-athletes have tested positive for the coronavirus since early July but after the school as well as head coach Randy Edsall consulted with players as well as state and public officials the Huskies came to a decision they felt was best for “the students health, safety and well being.”
It will be interested to see if any other schools follow this same decision moving forward.
