The University of Connecticut decided to eliminate four athletic teams, the school announced Wednesday.
According to Sports Illustrated, UConn President Thomas Katsouleas told its board of trustees that the school will reduce the number of sports it supports from 22 to 18, eliminating its men’s cross country, swimming/driving, tennis and women’s rowing.
This combined with a 15% cut in the operating budget of all sports/scholarships will result in savings of approximately $10 million over the next three years.
