The Toronto Raptors continue to pave their own history as head coach Nick Nurse was named the NBA’s Coach of The Year for the 2019-2020 season Saturday.
According to ESPN, Nurse who led the Raptors to their first championship last season received 90 out of 100 first-place votes from the media panel.
Nurse led Toronto to a franchise-record .736% winning percentage during the regular season, despite the Raptors best player Kawhi Leonard leaving in free agency to the Clippers.
The 53-year-old Nurse has been around the world coaching spending years in England and the NBA G-League before becoming an assistant for the Raptors in 2013 and succeeding Raptors great Dwayne Casey in 2018.
Heading into the playoffs, the defending Champs are the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference just a game away from sweeping the Brooklyn Nets heading into the second round of the playoffs over this weekend.
