Thursday, the SEC Conference approved to play a 10-game, conference-only football schedule beginning Sept. 26.
According to ESPN, the schedule was revised due to the coronavirus pandemic increasing the conference games from six to eight including six divisional foes, one permanent cross-divisional foe and one rotating cross-divisional foe.
Every team’s full schedule will be announced at a later date and the SEC championship game is still proposed to play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Dec. 19th.
With the announcement, the SEC became the second division following the Big 10 to propose a shorting, conference-only football schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic.
