The Tampa Bay Bucs will have to overcome some adversity ahead of their Thursday night title versus the Bears in Chicago as tight end O.J. Howard’s season is over after rupturing his achilles.
According to ESPN, Howard’s injury occurred in the fourth quarter of an eventual Bucs win over the Chargers with a play designed for running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn. Howard faked like he was going one way then was going to go the opposite when his leg gave out from under him.
The 19th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has struggled to play a full NFL season being consistently hampered by foot and ankle injuries.
This season, the former Alabama Crimson Tide had 11 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns before going down with the injury.
Now the onus will lean even more so on Gronk and Cameron Brate heading into the (3-1) Bucs showdown versus Nick Foles and the (3-1) Bears in Chicago Thursday.
