Nets Guard Spencer Dinwiddie is working to acquire a Nigerian passport to play for the Nigerian National team. Dinwiddie did not receive an invitation to play for the USA Olympic team. Dinwiddie averaged 20-points and 7-rebounds in 64 games prior to the NBA being suspended from the coronavirus pandemic, according to ESPN.
Nigeria is set to compete in its third consecutive Olympics since 2012. Dinwiddie joins NBA stars, Al-Farouq-Aminu (Orlando Magic), Josh Okogie (Minnesota T-Wolves), Chimezie Metu (San Antonio Spurs), Ekpe Utah (former Utah Jazz), among others and will play for Golden State Warriors assistant coach, Mike Brown, who will take over head coaching duties for the Nigerian National Team.
