Six Houston Cougars Tested positive for coronavirus, workouts cancelled

Chris's Corner

Well student football workouts were brief and short-lived at the University of Houston and the Cougars announced Friday they suspended all voluntary workouts as six of their football players tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to ESPN, the school did not test all the athletes when they returned to campus only those who showed symptoms according to The Houston Chronicle.

Any athlete having a temperature over 100.2 degrees (The CDC’s threshold) was immediately put into isolation.

With this, Houston becomes the first school to suspend voluntary workouts since the coronavirus suspended all sports.

The city itself is in a “Code Orange,” or Level II of coronavirus-related activity so the move makes sense from that standpoint.
