The San Diego Padres have been the busiest team during the MLB trade deadline most recently acquiring ace pitcher Mike Clevinger from the Indians Monday.
According to Bleacher Report, despite being in the midst of a playoff run Cleveland entertained several offers for their star pitcher before ultimately dealing him to the Padres in exchange for outfielder Josh Naylor, pitcher Cal Quantrill, shortstop Gabriel Arias, pitcher Joey Cantillo, catcher Austin Hedges and shortstop Owen Miller.
This season has gone 1-1 with a 3.20 ERA in four appearances.
San Diego wasn’t done there; they also dealt for slugger Mitch Moreland (Boston Red Sox), closer Trevor Rosenthal (Kansas City Royals) and catchers Jason Castro (Houston Astros) and Austin Nola (Seattle Mariners).
San Diego is having a dream season going 21-15 through 36 games trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West crown.
