San Diego Padres’ first baseman Eric Hosmer to miss two to six weeks with broken finger

Chris's Corner

The San Diego Padres are taking a hit at first base..LITERALLY as their starting first baseman Eric Hosmer broke his left index finger while attempting to bunt during the first inning against the Colorado Rockies Monday.

According to ESPN, Padres manager said Hosmer could be out at least two to six weeks.

Fortunately for San Diego, thanks to the trade deadline the Padres now have depth at the position acquiring veteran Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox and rookie Jake Cronenworth has also made an impact in limited games.

Hosmer was finally channeling his Royals days hitting batting .291 with eight homers and 32 RBI’s but with Moreland (.286 average with eight home runs and 21 RBI’s) and Cronenworth (.332 average with four home runs and 19 RBI’s) the 27-17 Padres shouldn’t miss a beat, well at least hitting-wise.
