There have rumors of the NFL trying to improve the Rooney Rule and it looks like these discussions have come to fruition.
The National Football League announced Monday that it will require each team to now interview more minority candidates for head coaching and coordinator positions, reports ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the insanely obvious lack of diversity but just for number’s sake only three of the past 20 head coaching hires were minorities and only four of 32 total teams have black/minority coaches, according to ESPN.
The league is also proposing building NFL Draft pick compensation for teams that hire minority coaches, assistants or general managers. This proposal would have to receive 24 of 32 votes in favor to pass at the NFL’s virtual meeting this Tuesday, reports ESPN.
