The Houston Rockets are taking a big blow as superstar guard Russell Westbrook is expected to miss the first round series with a strained right quad muscle.
According to ESPN, the nine-time all-star has continued his electric production averaging 27.2-points, 7.9-boards, 7.0-assists per game in his first season with the Rockets after Houston acquired the UCLA native in a blockbuster trade with the OKC Thunder last summer.
Westbrook’s return will depend on how he responds to treatment sources tell ESPN but the Rockets went all in midseason on a “small-ball,” offensive scheme in which each player that’s starting is 6’6’ or under emphasizing more three-point shooting, fast-break points and Westbrook torching opponents from the free-throw line and below.
With this injury, all of Houston’s contender aspirations are slowly draining out of the window.
