The Cincinnati Reds lost a legend Monday as Hall-of-Famer Joe Morgan passed away at age 77.
According to ESPN, the second baseman died at his California home after various fights of illnesses including a nerve condition.
Morgan spent the majority of his 22-year-career with the Reds being instrumental in Cincy’s back-to-back World Series Championships in 1975-and-76.
The two-time league MVP was a machine at second base hitting 268 home runs and 1,133 RBI’s en route to 10 All-Star appearances with five times being named a Gold Glover as well as being tabbed a Silver Slugger and All-Star game MVP as well.
Post-career, the Bonham, Texas native started broadcasting for ESPN in 1985 and is survived by his wife, Theresa and twin daughters, Kelly and Ashley as well as additionally daughters Lisa and Angela.
