The Portland Trailblazers lost a legend as former great forward Clifford Robinson passed away at the age of 53 Sunday.
According to Yahoo Sports, the former UConn Husky died after a long battle with lymphoma.
Nicknamed ‘Uncle Cliffy,” and known for his trademark headband Robinson spent 18 seasons in the NBA winning the 1993 Sixth-Man-of-the-Year award and an All Star appearance.
Robinson’s streak of 461 consecutive games played still stands as a Blazers record and Uncle Cliffy ranks among the team’s all-time leaders in blocks (2nd), points (5th), games played (5th), seals (6th), 3-pointers (7th) and rebounds (10th).
Robinson’s career totals were 14.2-points, 4.6-boards and 2.2-assists in 18 seasons for the Portland Trailblazers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets.
