The three-time Super Bowl Champion joins Patriots starters Brandon Bolden (running back), Marcus Cannon (left tackle), Patrick Chung (safety) as well as reverses Danny Vitale (fullback) and Najee Toran (offensive line) joined Hightower as players for New England to opt out of the 2020 season to coronavirus or health-deciding concerns.

Hightower has cited that he just recently had a child with his lovely fiance so that certainly is a contributing factor.

The New England players join a list of Caleb Brantley (Washington DL), Maurice Canaday (Cowboys Cornerback), Chance Warmack (Seahawks OL), De’Anthony Thomas (WR/KR) and Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff (Chiefs OL) as players not participating in the 2020 season due to coronavirus concerns.
