The NFL is taking every step to try to bring football back as safely as possible as the league announced a whole new sporting look for the 2020 season.
According to ESPN, the Oakley Mouth Shield is expected to be distributed to all 32 teams over the next week.
Designed by Oakley, the NFLPA and league, the mouth guard is a series of plastic sheets attached to the face guard with airways and openings on the mouth shields that diminish direct transmission of droplets according to the league’s engineering committee, Dr. Jeff Crandall.
The two biggest concerns by the NFL and NFLPA to date is breathability and visibility but it possibly could be a win-win situation for coronavirus safety while also being able to play the most-watched sport in the country this fall.
