The Oakland A’s took a big hit Saturday as third baseman Matt Chapman will undergo season-ending hip surgery this Monday.
According to ESPN, the 27-year-old sought another opinion on his right hip tendonitis to which it was concluded he would need surgery that will sideline him the rest of the season.
Chapman is a star for the A’s already being a back-to-back Gold Glove winner, an All-Star in 2019 and was hitting .232 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI’s this season.
For his career, the righty has 84 home runs with 224 RBI’s off .255 hitting.
The Oakland A’s are currently 28-15 sitting first atop the AL West.
