The NHL made history Monday as the Arizona Coyotes hired Xavier Gutierrez as their president and CEO.
With the hiring, Gutiererrez became the first latino president and CEO in NHL history, according to ESPN.
He previously served as a managing director at Clearlake Capitol group and was chief investment officer of Meruelo Group (owned by the Coyotes’ controlling owner Alex Meruelo).
According to ESPN, Gutierrez replaces Ahron Cohen who the Coyotes parted ways with last month. Cohen served in the position since 2017.
