The National Football League lost another treasure as the Hall-of-Fame edge Fred Dean passed away Thursday at age 68.
According to Yahoo Sports, no official cause of death has been announced but former teammate Dwight Hicks posted on social media that Dean had been admitted to the hospital last week battling the coronavirus.
The Louisiana Native was drafted out of LA Tech in 1975 finding his niche in the Bay with the 49ers totaling 28 total sacks from 1982-85 earning him four Pro Bowl Appearances, two All-Pro tabs including two Super Bowl Championships with San Francisco in ‘82 and ‘85.
On August 2, 2008 Dean was inducted into the Pro Football Hall-ofFame and the rest, they say, is history.
Rest in Peace legend!
