New York Jets to release star running back Le’Veon Bell

Chris's Corner

Well it looks like the muddy chapter of the Le’Veon Bell experiment is over in New York as the Jets released the star running back Tuesday evening.

According to ESPN, the rocky 19-month relationship ended after the franchise could not find a suitable trade partner before cutting ties citing “no player is bigger than the team.”

The former Pittsburgh Steeler has been a disappointment since he signed a four-year, $52.5 million dollar deal during the 2019 offseason only rushing 3.3-yards-per-carry good for third-worst out of qualifying running backs.

In his 17 games with the Jets, Bell rushed for just 873 yards and three touchdowns.

But let’s be clear: he was severely hurt by mediocre offensive line play, inconsistent quarterback play and God-awful coaching so could we really haven’t expected more?

Now the 28-year-old will be a free agent this coming week and a much-coveted one with already five teams expressing interest in signing him.

The former Michigan State Spartan cashed in during a short time with the Jets gardening a total of $28 million dollars in just 17 games.

For his career. Bell has rushed for 6,199 yards and 46 total touchdowns in seven seasons.
