New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkely will undergo season-ending surgery for a torn ACL

In a week two plagued with injuries, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will undergo season-ending surgery this week for a torn ACL.


According to Giants.com, Barkley underwent an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan the day after he was injured in a 17-13 loss to the Bears in Chicago where it was found that he had severely injured his knee therefore requiring surgery that will sideline him the remainder of the 2020 season.


Barkley was hurt as he ran toward the sideline Sunday in Chicago and was tackled by Bears safety Eddie Jackson. He grabbed his knee which therefore led to him being carted off to the locker room.


The 23-year-old has rushed for 2,344 yards on 497 carries his first three seasons after being selected No. 2 in the 2018 NFL season.


Wide receiver Sterling Shepard is additionally dealing with turf toe while veteran Devonta Freeman is set to visit Tuesday as Barkely’s possible replacement for this season.
