New Orleans Saints star receiver Michael Thomas likely to miss numerous games with ankle sprain

Chris's Corner

The New Orleans Saints took a major hit to their high octane offense as superstar receiver Michael Thomas will likely miss numerous weeks with a high ankle sprain sustained in the final minutes of a 34-23 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs Sunday.

According to ESPN, the former Ohio State Buckeye will likely miss this week’s game against the Raiders in Las Vegas on Monday Night Football and a typical normal high ankle sprain sidelines players for an additional two to three more weeks.

However Thomas and the team are positive he will be back sooner than that.

The 27-year-old had one of the best seasons the league has seen hauling in 149 catches for 1.725 yards with nine touchdowns but was largely limited in the team’s first outing with just three catches for 17 yards.

I don’t think New Orleans will need to sweat his absence against the Raiders defense especially with the running back duo or Alvin Kamara and Latvius Murray but the schedule does pick up as they play Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in week three then Matt Stafford and the Lions in week four and Joey Bosa and the Chargers in week five.
