New Orleans Saints, running back Alvin Kamara agree to five-year, $75 million dollar extension

Chris's Corner

The swirling convo carousel between the Saints and running back Alvin Kamara has finally concluded as the two agreed on a five-year, $75 million dollar extension Saturday.

According to ESPN, the contract extension includes $34.3 million in guaranteed dollars for arguably the most important piece in the Saints high-octane offense.

The former Tennessee Vol was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie-of-the-Year in 2017 and has been on the league’s most dynamic dual threats as a runner and receiver amassing 2,408 rush yards and 2,068 receiving yards which is fifth most since 2017 with 38 touchdowns.

Now the 25-year-old has battled some injuries missing two games last year and being hampered by lingering knee and ankle injuries so I still believe New Orleans needs a true north and south runner but when healthy Kamara is dynamic.

The new contract now ties the Cowboys’ Zeke Elliott for $15 million annually for the second-highest paid running backs.
