New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara to return to practicas Saints close in a new contract

Chris's Corner

Everyone says their weeks are whirlwinds at times but I gotta say man it must’ve been a wild one thus far for Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Start of the week Alvin Kamara holds out from training camp due to a desire for a long-term lucrative extension. Yesterday New Orleans looked like they were open to trading the dual-threat back for a First-Round Pick and more and now today, according to ESPN, the two sides are closing in on a big-time extension.

According to ESPN, the former Tennessee Volunteer returned to Wednesday’s practice after the two sides are closing in a deal that would likely mirror Carolina’s franchise star Christian McCaffrey at around $16 million per year.

The 25-year-old is heading into the final year of his rookie contract therefore due for an extension and is deserving of such a contract being one of the most important pieces to the New Orleans high-octane offense.

Very few active NFL players have been as prolific as Kamara both running and receiving rushing for 2,408 yards and hauling in 2,068 yards in just three short seasons so keeping the dynamic player will be a big priority for the Saints heading into the 2020 season.
