The New Orleans Pelicans made a shocking move Saturday firing head coach Alvin Gentry.
According to Yahoo Sports, the 65-year-old just completed his fifth season with the team Thursday but struggled mightily in the bubble going 2-6 after the league restarted.
In his five years with New Orleans, he compiled a 175-225 record posting one winning season going 48-34 in the 2017-18 season.
While the Pelicans organizationally have been a dumpster fire they do have an immense talent pool with No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson, breakout most-improved-player Brandon Ingram, former top pick Lonzo Ball and a deep bench which should be appealing to most coaches.
