The NBA (National Basketball Association) will host a viral, “H-O-R-S-E,” competition this Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN. The rules, per the NBA, are:
A coin toss at the start of each game to determine who receives the ball first, with the more senior player calling heads of tails.
Players must describe each shot attempt and specify the type of score they intend to make such as a bank shot or swish.
Dunking is prohibited.
The first player in each game to accumulate “H-O-R-S-E,” after failing to match five shots is eliminated.
According to NBC Sports, the contestants were supposed to be kept under wraps but were recently leaked to the public: Trae Young, Chauncey Billups, Tamika Catchings, Mike Conley, Zach LaVine, Paul Pierce, Chris Paul and Allie Quigley will be the participants in the competition. The semifinals and finals will be televised the following Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern, according to the reports. This is the fourth time the league has hosted a “H-O-R-S-E,” competition with the other three being from 2009-11 during the NBA All-Star week. The NBA (along with every other sport) has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
