The Washington Nationals will be without their star outfielder as Juan Soto has tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday.
According to ESPN, Nats general manager Mike Rizzo told the network Soto was asymptomatic deeming him ineligible for the Thursday season opener against the Yankees.
Soto would have to receive two negative tests before he can return to the field. He was, of course, integral in the Washington Nationals championship run, breaking out for 34 home runs and 110 RBI’s in the regular season and five home runs and 14 RBI’s batting .277 in the playoffs.
The 21-year-old will arguably be the best hitter and best overall player for the Nationals this coming season once he becomes eligible to join the team.
