East Lansing landed a big recruit as ESPN’s No. 1-ranked player Emoni Bates has committed to Michigan State.
According to ESPN, Bates is widely known as the top recruit for the 2022 class and his plans for his final two years of high school will be attending a new prep school his father, Elgin, is opening this coming Fall.
Bates is the first No. 1 prospect to commit to Sparty since 2007. He joins Jaren Jackson in 2017 as the only two five-star prospects to commit to Michigan State over the years.
The 6-foot-9 wing was the Gatorade Player of the Year as a sophomore while attending Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
