The NFL lost a titan Monday as Dolphins Hall of Fame coach Don Shula passed away. According to ESPN, Shula (90) passed away “peacefully at his home.”
Shula began his NFL career as a defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 1960-62 then coached the Baltimore Ravens from 1963-69 and ended his career with the Miami Dolphins from 1970-95.
He coached in the NFL for 33 seasons earning NFL Coach of the Year four times (1964, ‘67, ‘68, ‘72) coaching in six Super Bowls and capturing two of them (1973, ‘74).
Shula is a South Beach legend being the NFL’s all-time winningest coach with 347 career wins and leading the Dolphins to the league’s only undefeated season in 1972-73, according to ESPN. He was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
