Longtime NBA forward Marvin Williams announced his retirement after 14 seasons

Marvin Williams has called it a career as the power forward announced his retirement Wednesday.


According to ESPN, the former University of North Carolina star was selected second overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks and has been a solid contributor ever since.


He then played his first seven seasons with the Hawks averaging double digits points every year but one earning the NBA All-Rookie team in 2006.


From the Hawks, he played for the Utah Jazz a few short seasons before playing five seasons for the Charlotte Hornets where he once again averaged double digits in points three of five seasons before being picked up by the Milwaukee Bucks before the NBA Bubble.


In the 2020 NBA Playoffs, Williams averaged five points while shooting 43% from the field and 33% beyond the arc in a limited bench role.


The Bremerton, Washington native averaged 10.2-points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 36% from three in 14 NBA seasons.
