With Matthew Stafford coming off a major injury it was important for the Lions to ensure he will be protected this season and they took a major step towards that extending left tackle Taylor Decker to a six-year, $85 million dollar deal Wednesday.
According to ESPN, Decker was the 16th pick out of the 2016 NFL Draft and the first under general manager Bob Quinn.
The former Ohio State Buckeye has started all 55 games he has played in and actually hauled in a touchdown pass in week 17 of the 2018 NFL season.
He has been one of the Lions most consistent players and under his new contract, Decker will now be with Detroit longer than any other active player.
