LA Chargers, Washington Football tab tab Justin Herbert, Kyle Allen as starters moving forward

Chris's Corner

The Chargers look to have found their man as rookie Justin Herbert was named Los Angeles starter moving forward.

According to ESPN, Tyrod Taylor, who was sidelined after a team doctor accidentally punctured his leg while giving a pain killing injection would normally start if he was 100% according to head coach Anthony Lynn but given Herbert’s stellar performances against the Chiefs and Bucs and above-average start against the Panthers, this was a big enough sample size for Lynn and the Bolts to run with him moving forward.

The former Oregon Duck has thrown for 931 yards with six total touchdowns in three games and will face a big test as the (1-3) Chargers will head to New Orleans to take on the (2-2) Saints Monday.

As for Washington, head coach Ron Rivera announced this week that Dwayne Haskins Jr. was benched in favor of Kyle Allen after a disappointing 2020 season thus far.

Haskins, a former first-round pick out of the 2019 NFL Draft, just hasn’t fared well in Washington only completing 61% of his passes with four touchdowns to three interceptions and 13 sacks taken.

His footwork, inconsistent mechanics, decision-making and holding onto the ball too long have all been sore spots and with Washington sitting at 1-3, Rivera believes a change may be ultimately good for the team.

The Football team will take Jared Goff and the (3-1) Los Angeles Rams at FedEx Field in the Nation’s Capitol this Sunday.
