The Super-Bowl winning Kansas City Chiefs are retaining two key pieces to their championship team, extending both head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach for six more years Monday evening.
According to ESPN, Reid and Veach joined the Chiefs in 2013 with Veach starting as a scout in 2013 and later as a GM in 2017.
Since the duo joined, immense success followed as Kansas City made the playoffs six of the seven seasons, crowning four AFC West titles with two AFC Championship appearances and of course, the 2018-2019 Super Bowl Championship.
Their Super Bowl win was the franchise’s first in 50 years when they came back to beat the loaded San Francisco 49ers.
As for Reid, the 62-year-old is 77-35 in seven regular seasons with the Chiefs and Veach, a 42-year-old going on 26 in the image department, has been instrumental in drafting superstar Patrick Mahomes and securing the likes of Chris Jones, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill as well as acquiring edge Frank Clark and safety Tyrann Mathieu in a franchise that returns 20 of their 22 offensive starters and the foundational pieces of their defense, Kansas City has built a potential dynasty which the amount of talent, guidance and rapport over the past three seasons.
