The Chiefs secondary continues to get thinner as cornerback Charvarius Ward is out indefinitely after fracturing his hand in a 34-20 win over the Houston Texans Thursday evening.
According to ESPN, Kansas City is already without starter Brashaud Breeland who is serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and now with the Ward injury the Chiefs secondary will be even tested more so in the coming games.
Rookie L’Jarius Sneed, a fourth round pick in the Chiefs 2019 draft started in place of Breeland and recorded an interception and two pass break-ups showing some good while also giving up 132 receiving yards which was bad but about equal to what Breeland does normally.
If Ward isn’t available, youngin Rashad Fenton would start against the Los Angeles Chargers and veteran Antonio Hamilton who has seen snaps at both corner and safety would play in the nickel.
