Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is asking a Kentucky judge to remove a confederate monument in downtown Murray Saturday.
The former Murray State star sent a letter (that he shared via social media) to a state judge requesting the monument that features a statue of Robert E. Lee outside of the Calloway County Courthouse be removed.
According to ESPN, a great number of Confederate statues and monuments have been removed in the aftermath of the George Floyd murder and this could potentially be the next.
Morant led the Racers to a terrific 26-6 record and conference championship during the 2017-18 season before being selected with the second pick of the 2019 NBA Draft.
