The Passing of a Titan: Chicago Bears running back Gale Sayers has passed away at the age of 77 after battling dementia.
According to ESPN, Sayers was considered by many as one of the best running backs of all time rushing for 4,956 yards and 39 touchdowns in five seasons before lingering knee injuries forced him to retire in 1971.
Known as the “Kansas City Comet,” Sayers, led the league in rushing including 1969 and ‘66 as well as averaging five-yards-a-carry throughout his career, which is just amazing.
The five-time Pro-Bowler out of the University of Kansas made Jayhawk, Bears and Wichita, Kansas natives was inducted into the Hall-of-Fame in 1977 despite just playing seven seasons in the league and being the youngest player to ever be inducted at age 34.
We all are sending our condolences to Sayers family and hope the Five-Time All-Pro rests in peace.
