Former NFL QB Ryan Leaf arrested of battery charges Friday

It looks like the demons of old never die as former NFL QB Ryan Leaf was arrested Friday on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery.


According to ESPN, the former ESPN college football analyst was arrested at 2 p.m. in Palm Desert, Calif., and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, according to police records.


Leaf was released Friday night on $5,000 bail with a court date set on Sept. 25.


The 44-year-old is infamously known for being the NFL No. 2 pick (the same draft as NFL great’s Peyton Manning) and having a brief four-year NFL career before his life dramatically spiraled out of control struggling with drug addiction and abuse.


He spent two years in prison after breaking into a Montana home to steal prescription drugs and ultimately breaking his probation. Leaf then dedicated his whole life to awareness of these issues and sportscasting on a number of networks/shows including ESPN, Pac-12 Network and Sirius XM’s Pac-12 channel, according to ESPN>
