Florida to become the first state to pay its collegiate athletes, NCAA announces

Florida made state history Friday when Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill aiming to help athletes make money on their name, image, likeness effective July 1st, 2021.


According to USA Today, Florida became the third state (California and Colorado) to pass similar bills.


The difference between the three is that Florida is making this bill official 18 months ahead of any other state according to the article.


These bills may be a trend of the now as Rep. Anthony Gonzalez looks to make Ohio the fourth state to pass this bill in the coming months.
