Interesting findings in NACAR as the FBI announced that driver Bubba Wallace was not the victim of a hate crime.
According to the FBI, the noose found in garage four at Talladega Speedway had been there as early as October 2019 and was actually pulling rope from that garage’s door. With this evidence, the bureau said no charges would be pursued in relation to the incident.
Wallace, NASCAR’s only full-time African-American driver on the circuit, had become a target for critics for his response with the social justice movement and being a major advocate in NASCAR’s decision to ban confederate flags.
NASCAR president Steve Phelps said he was “disturbed to think that a member of NASCAR but it's’ fantastic to hear from the FBI that it was [definitely] not a hate crime.”
