Vince Carter is officially calling it a career as the long-time guard announced his retirement after 22 seasons Thursday.
According to ESPN, the 43-year-old announced he was “officially done,” on The Ringer’s ‘Winging It With Vince Carter,” podcast.
The eight-time All-Star hinted the coming season could be his last after signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks but made it official today.
The former North Carolina Tar Heel will go down as an All-Time great for his high flying athleticism, dunking prowess and unbelievable professionalism.
Carter finished 19th all-time in NBA scoring and was the league’s 1999 Rookie-of-the-Year.
Universally known as one of the best dunkers in NBA History, Carter spent his first seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors etching his name in the rafters and putting the Raptors on the league’s radar for the first time. He then transitioned to the then New Jersey Nets spending four seasons there evolving his game from a fantastic dunker to a fantastic player.
From there he spent a season with the Orlando Magic then a season with Phoenix Suns then three with the Dallas Mavericks.
The last part of his career, Carter signed with the Memphis Grizzlies for three seasons then the Sacramento Kings for one and finished his career as an Atlanta Hawk for the last two years.
Carters next trip may potentially be to the NBA Hall-of-Fame, congrats on a great career!
