Detroit Lions, Veteran Running Back Adrian Peterson agree to one-year deal

Chris's Corner

Just days after being released by the Washington Football Team, running back Adrian Peterson has already found a new home agreeing to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions Sunday.

According to ESPN, the deal is up to around $1 million including incentives for the 14-year veteran.

Peterson brings a wealth of experience and leadership being one of the best running backs of all-time with seven Pro-Bowl appearances, four-time all-Pro selections and an NFL MVP.

The 35-year-old joins a crowded backfield that included last year’s starter Kerryon Johnson and 2020 second-round pick De’Andre Swift but believes he will still have an opportunity to produce.

Last season, AP rushed for 898 yards and five touchdowns for a rebuilding Washington team and just 1,053 yards behind Lions legend Barry Sanders for fourth on the NFL’s rushing list.

For his career, Peterson has rushed for 14,216 yards and 111 total rushing touchdowns.
