Great news for Cowboys fans as quarterback Dak Prescott plans to sign his franchise-tag by Monday.
According to ESPN, the $31.4 million exclusive tender Prescott will sign will then obligate him to report to training camp on time.
The two sides still haven’t come close to a long-term agreement but by signing this tender it certainly feels like the two sides can come to an agreement before the July 15 deadline.
Prescott had a career-best season last year throwing for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns last season but the Cowboys only went 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
In his four seasons, Prescott ranks among the top five quarterbacks in wins (40), passing touchdowns (97), rushing TD’s (21), and total QBR (68), according to ESPN.
Despite his personal success the team as a whole hasn’t done much with just one playoff win in his four seasons largely coming up short time and time again so it will be interesting to see what Dallas does beyond this one-year tender.
