Clemson Receiver Justyn Ross to miss entire 2020 season with back injury

Chris's Corner

Bad news for Clemson fans as the team announced star receiver Justyn Ross will miss the entire 2020 season with a congenital fusion in his spine.

According to Tigers coach Dabo Swinney, Ross missed the final practice of Spring workouts prior to the coronavirus shutdown with a stinger but an x-ray revealed an issue that Justyn has had since birth without being aware of it.

According to ESPN, Ross’s career could be in jeopardy and he will fly to Pittsburgh on Thursday to undergo surgery on Friday by Dr. David Okonkwo, a leading neuroscientist.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver out of Phenix City, Alabama had a breakout freshman year hauling in 46-catches for 1,000-yards and nine touchdowns then followed it up with an impressive sophomore season hauling in 65 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns as a number-two option.

Ross was slated to be the Tigers number one option for Clemson who was seeking their fourth National Championship appearance and third title in the last five seasons.
