Chiefs to ban Native American headwear, facepaint and look into changing Arrowhead Chop too

Chris's Corner

The Kansas City Chiefs are making major changes ahead of the 2020 season.

According to ESPN, Chiefs’ fans are now prohibited from wearing headdresses as well as face paint styled to imitate Native American Cultures.

The Kansas City organization is also looking into making changes to two Chiefs traditions in the Arrowhead chop and the pregame beating of a drum after having “meaningful” conversations with American Indian Leaders to both “celebrate the rich traditions of the tribes while raising awareness and diminishing racist or outdated traditions.”

The Chiefs announced last week their attendance policy being 16,000 fans or roughly 22% of Arrowhead capacity and now they are making progressive changes toward a more peaceful and respectful organization to all races, ethnicities and cultures.
