Chiefs running back Damien Williams becomes second player for team to opt out amid coronavirus conce

Chris's Corner

Kansas City will be without another major offensive weapon in 2020 as running back Damien Williams became the second Chief to opt out of the season amid coronavirus concerns Wednesday.

According to ESPN, Williams was limited to 11 regular season games and just six starts because of various injuries but still led Kansas City in rushing yards with 498. He also was huge in the post-season particularly in the Super Bowl rushing for 104 yards and the game-sealing touchdown to ensure a Chiefs Super Bowl victory.

The former Oklahoma Sooner had six rushing touchdowns in three postseason games so his postseason play will surely be missed if the NFL season gets to that without shutting down.

Fortunately for Kansas City, the Chiefs used their first round selection to draft LSU superstar dynamo Clyde Edwards-Helaire as well as reserves Darrell Williams, Darwin Thompson and free-agent signing DeAndre Washington.

Williams joined the Chiefs in 2018 after spending four season with the Miami Dolphins.
