In a shocking move the Chicago White Sox have relieved Rick Renteria of his managerial duties Monday.
Despite leading the White Sox to their first postseason appearance since 2008, the Chicago front office made the decision to move in a different direction.
Renteria compiled a 236-309 record over his four seasons guiding the Sox to a 35-25 record prior to losing to the Oakland A’s in the wildcard round of the 2020 postseason.
It’s a puzzling move for a team that hasn’t had a winning season since 2012 but the front office looks to believe this to be a Championship window targeting a more playoff experienced manager for the open position.
