Chicago Bears lose Tarik Cohen for the season and tab Nick Foles as the new starting QB

The Chicago Bears announced two major moves Monday with Pro-Bowl running back Tarik Cohen announced out for the season with a torn ACL and backup quarterback Nick Foles will now be the starting quarterback moving forward.

According to ESPN, head coach Matt Nagy announced the 31-year-old veteran will be the Bears starting QB moving forward.

Foles replaces 2017 second overall pick Mitch Trubisky, whom Nagy benched in the third quarter with Chicago trailing 16 points to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Foles has a 26-22 record in 48 games as a starter for the St. Louis Rams, Philly Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and now, Chicago Bears, throwing for 74 touchdowns to just 36 interceptions completing 62% of his passes.

In relief of Carson Wentz, he led the 2018 Eagles to a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

As for Cohen, he suffered the season-ending injury on a punt return when Atlanta’s Brian Hill got pushed into the back of his right leg.

The dynamic dynamo was a Pro-Bowler as returner in 2018 and will certainly be missed but with Foles as the helm the Bears were able to erase a 16-point lead en route to a 30-26 win over the Falcons in Atlanta.

This week they will take on Phillip Rivers and the Colts in Chicago Sunday.
