Brooklyn Nets forward Wilson Chandler has informed the team he is opting out of playing Orlando, Florida.
According to ESPN, Chandler cited spending time with family particularly his grandmother and three children as the primary reason for sitting out.
While with the Nets, Chandler appeared in 35 games averaging 5.9-points, 4.1-boards while shooting 40% from the field during the 2019-20 season. He is one a one-year contract.
To counter, the Nets are planning to sign free-agent forward Justin Anderson.
With the decision, Chandler joins Blazers’ Trevor Arizia, Wizards’ Davis Bertans, Lakers’ Avery Bradley and the Mav’s Willie Cauley-Stein as players opting out of playing the resume season.
The decision makes sense as of the 302 players to take tests Tuesday, 16 have tested positive for the coronavirus.
